Introduction
rama.py provides an interactive Ramachandran plot for a PyMOL selection or object.
The plot displays residue backbone phi/psi angles and allows residues to be selected interactively by clicking points in the plot. Residue types can be highlighted using different colours, making it useful for examining unusual backbone conformations and crowded regions of Ramachandran space.
Installation
Download rama.py and load it in PyMOL with:
run rama.py
Usage
First create or load a PyMOL object or selection, for example:
fetch 2dn2
select alpha1, chain A and resi 1-141
Then run the Ramachandran plot command:
rama alpha1
The plot title uses the name of the selected object or selection.
Clicking a point in the Ramachandran plot selects the corresponding residue in PyMOL.
Features
- Interactive Ramachandran plot linked to PyMOL selections.
- Clickable residues.
- Glycine and proline are displayed with distinctive colours.
- Additional residue types can be highlighted to aid interpretation.
- Works with pre-existing PyMOL objects and selections.
